India manufacturing sector: A lot of employment opportunities are being created in the manufacturing sector in the country. Not only has there been an increase in jobs in the manufacturing sector in the financial year 2022-23, there has also been a significant increase in salaries. Gujarat, Maharashtra and UP have become the biggest job creators in the construction sector. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised the report and credited it to India becoming stronger under the leadership of PM Modi. According to the government survey, jobs grew by 7.6% in FY23 while workers’ wages saw a rise of 5.5%.

Employment increased in manufacturing sector, salaries also increased significantly

The government released the data and said that 1.9 crore workers are working in the manufacturing sector in 2022-23 compared to 1.6 crore workers in 2018-19. The number of workers per factory has also increased. It increased from 65 in 2018-19 to 71 in 2022-23. The average annual salary per worker was Rs 1.69 lakh in 2018-19, which has increased to Rs 2.05 lakh in 2022-23. Workers’ wages have increased by an average of 5.5%.

Contribution of these three states of the country in the manufacturing sector

Gujarat, Maharashtra and UP have the biggest contribution in the manufacturing sector. These three states have emerged as centers of the manufacturing sector. Gujarat has 17.7% share in the total production in the manufacturing sector. Gujarat is on top in this matter. While Maharashtra has 14.6% share, UP is at third place contributing 7.1%.

Maharashtra tops in providing employment in manufacturing sector

According to the data released by the government, Maharashtra has contributed 12.8% to the jobs in the manufacturing sector while Gujarat is at second place with 12.6 percent and Uttar Pradesh is the third job providing state with 8.1%. Among the total manufacturing factories in the country, Gujarat is second with 12.2 percent, Maharashtra is third with 10.4 percent and UP is fourth with 7.5 percent.
