Pauri. A fine of Rs 3 lakh has been imposed on a Dilbag pan masala manufacturing company in the industrial area of New Delhi. The company’s Pan Masala was not found as per the standards in packaging and leveling. The court of Adjudicating Officer/ADM Pauri has imposed this fine on the company. Also, a fine of Rs 10,000 has been imposed on the seller for not having a confirmed bill for Dilbag Pan Masala.
The Food Safety Department of Pauri district inspected business establishments in Srinagar Garhwal in September 2013 and did sampling work. On September 16, 2013, a sample of 60 sachets of Dilbag Pan Masala was taken from Harish Paan Bhandar located on Badrinath Road and sent for testing. Government Food and Drug Analysis Laboratory Rudrapur had sent the investigation report on January 3, 2014.
During investigation, the packaging and leveling of Dilbagh Pan Masala was found to be a miss brand. The food safety department of the district had given the pan masala seller, shopkeeper and the manufacturing company the opportunity to get the pouches tested from some other laboratory. But neither of them had made any application. After this the department had filed a case in the court of Adjudicating Officer/ADM Pauri.
District Designated Officer Pauri AS Rawat said that the court of Adjudicating Officer/ADM Pauri Ila Giri has ordered the Dilbagh Pan Masala manufacturing company M/s Sompan Products Pvt. Ltd. under the standards of Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 and Regulations-2011. A fine of Rs 3 lakh has been imposed on Narayan Industrial Area, New Delhi for not packaging and leveling. Besides, a fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed on businessman Harish Kaparwan. He told that the manufacturing company and businessman will have to deposit the fine amount within 15 days. Rawat said that if the fine is not paid, recovery action will be taken like land revenue.
