Bhopal Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Police on Monday said they have arrested the third suspect in the drug case, Harish Anjana, and handed him over to Gujarat ATS for further questioning.

He was arrested in Mandsaur district, about 350 km from Bhopal. Mandsaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Anand said that this action was taken after the Gujarat ATS team had sought cooperation in the case.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Anjana has already been booked for drug supply in Mandsaur and Gwalior. “During short interrogation, Anjana has revealed the name of another suspect, Prem Patidar, and we will arrest him soon,” Anand told the media.

The SP further said that the gang was also operating from Vapi in Gujarat and border areas of Ahmedabad and Rajasthan. He said teams have been formed in the border areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan to nab other suspects. Mandsaur SP said, “The investigation of the case is still going on and some more suspects are likely to be arrested soon.” The development comes after Gujarat ATS and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a factory in Bagroda Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Bhopal and seized designer drug Mephedrone (MD) and raw material worth over Rs 1,800 crore from a factory on Saturday. It happened a day after doing it. During the operation, two suspects – Amit Prakashchandra Chaturvedi and Sanyal Bane – were arrested.

Officials had received information that the duo were involved in illegal manufacturing and sale of MD under the guise of a manufacturing unit in Bhopal. According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that Bane was arrested for a similar crime in 2017 and has spent five years in jail. After his release, he conspired with Amit Prakashchandra Chaturvedi to make and sell MD and rented a shed in Bagroda Industrial Estate six to seven months ago. Police said that they had started producing MD three months ago.

This action was taken by Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi. This information was first shared by Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi in ​​a post on social media platform X on Sunday. He wrote in his post, “Congratulations to Gujarat ATS and NCB (Ops), Delhi for a big victory in the fight against drugs! Recently, they raided a factory in Bhopal and seized drugs used in making MD drugs and MD.” The material seized has a total value of Rs 1,814 crore.”
