New Delhi, October 9 () Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S Krishnan on Wednesday said that a healthy partnership with the US is important for India to become a global manufacturing hub in the field of electronics manufacturing.


The Electronics and Information Technology Secretary was addressing the second roundtable meeting of the India-US Task Force for Electronics organized by industry body India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) here on Wednesday.

The forum was attended by more than 40 industry leaders from Indian and US companies as well as key government officials. It discussed plans to increase India-US electronics trade to $100 billion during the next decade.

He said, “Electronics is poised to become the largest single manufacturing sector globally. “India must not only build a strong supply chain for itself but also claim a substantial stake in it to become an integral part of global value chains.”

He said India wants to build these supply chains on mutual trust and partnership with the US is important to achieve this.
