Today, on one hand, Pakistan is sending weapons and drugs to India and on the other hand, anti-national elements have started manufacturing and smuggling of illegal weapons in India, which is clear from the following few recent examples:
* On August 28, ‘Khaknar’ police of Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh) arrested an accused named Lakhan, who was supplying illegal weapons and recovered 5 pistols. On his information, raiding the factory of making illegal weapons in Pachauri, 10 pistols and Materials used in making illegal weapons seized.
* On September 9, Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) police raided an illegal arms factory in ‘Lakdi Fazalpur’ village and arrested 6 people along with 20 completed pistols and 30 semi-finished pistols.
* On October 6, Delhi Police arrested two people named Ikram and Mashook Ali and busted an illegal gun manufacturing factory and recovered 16 country-made pistols, 6 cartridges, 41 barrels of country-made pistols and material used in making illegal weapons from a flat in Meerut. 6 equipment seized.
* On October 6 itself, 2 accused ‘Karo Mistry’ and ‘Goru Mian’ were arrested along with 3 country made guns, 3 country made pistols and weapon making tools from a mini gun factory in ‘Khalsa Dhibri’ village of Nawada (Bihar). Generally, we keep accusing Pakistan of smuggling illegal weapons into India, but from the above examples it is clear that in our own country, there are factories making illegal weapons at many places. Therefore, there is a need for the government to immediately investigate these cases and take strictest steps to reach the root of these gangs and destroy them completely.—Vijay Kumar
