Jagran correspondent, Bareilly: Even after the ban, the use of single use plastic (SUP) is not stopping. Even now single use plastic is being used indiscriminately everywhere. On Tuesday, the team of Municipal Corporation Environment and Health Department jointly raided a factory located in Parsakheda and recovered two tonnes of plastic glasses. After finding a large quantity of SUP, plastic was confiscated and a fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed on the Municipal Corporation businessman. During this time, many influential people were seen making recommendations for the release of the seized SUP.

The team also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on businessman Varun Agarwal. The city health officer said that during interrogation the businessman had said that he had started operating the factory only five months ago. Told that along with plastic, raw material was also recovered.
Told that raids were conducted at two other places on information of such activity being carried out, but before that the businessmen closed the factory and fled. During the action, policemen of the enforcement team and officers and employees of the health department were present.
Goods worth lakhs destroyed in fire
Sansu, Dahagawan: A fire broke out in the house of Harpal son Pimmi in village Sujawali of the block area at around five in the evening due to spark from the electric wire. Goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt to ashes in the fire. Besides, 50 thousand rupees kept in the house also got burnt in the fire. Apart from this, the household items, clothes, grains and straw kept in the house were also burnt to ashes. There was a stampede in the village after the fire. By the time the villagers reached everything had been burnt to ashes. The victim’s family is in bad condition, crying after the fire.
