Bareilly Bareilly. In view of the festivals, the Excise Commissioner, on the instructions of District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar, has formed teams to stop smuggling of liquor from other states, manufacturing and sale of illegal liquor. These teams will run special operations till October 13.

The DM has deployed three teams in the urban area and one each in Amla, Baheri, Mirganj, Faridpur and Nawabganj areas. An administrative, a police officer and an excise inspector are also included in each team. The District Magistrate said that under the campaign, action will be taken against the people identified in the list of mafia and smugglers involved in the sale of illegal liquor with the help of the local police. Alcohol tankers stopping at dhabas on the National Highway should be investigated. Excise shops and wholesale licenses should be inspected and bar codes and QR codes should also be checked. Random raids should be conducted on liquor shops in remote areas.

There should be a ban on selling liquor at high prices when shops are closed. CCTV cameras installed at shops should remain operational at all times and real time monitoring should be ensured. He also asked to keep an eye on the closed factories. The DM has instructed all the SDMs, Additional City Magistrates I, II, all COs, Excise Inspectors to visit the area and take action in mutual coordination. He also asked for wide publicity of toll free number 14405, WhatsApp number 9454466019 operated at the state level.
