Kannauj News: There was a stir in the area due to the sudden deterioration in the condition of four girls working in a mosquito wick factory located in Gadanpur Baddu of Sadar Kotwali area. The factory operator immediately sent all the girls to the hospital, but seeing the serious condition of three, the doctors referred them to Kanpur. A 23-year-old girl died on reaching Kanpur, while another girl died after returning home from the hospital after her condition deteriorated. Two girls have died in this accident, while two others are undergoing treatment.
As soon as information about the accident was received, DM and SP visited the factory. The DM gave instructions to immediately investigate the incident, while the SP assured to investigate the safety standards. He said that the actual cause of death will be clear only after the post mortem report comes.
According to local people, there is a lack of necessary safety equipment and precautions for the workers working in the factory. The chemicals released during the manufacturing of mosquito wicks adversely affect the health of workers. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the deteriorating condition of the girls was due to chemicals or this accident happened due to some other reason.
At present, the administration has closed the factory and has assured help to the families of the deceased girls. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of mourning and anger in Gadanpur Baddu area. Local citizens have demanded the administration to pay more attention to the health and safety of workers working in factories.
