Tata Group will create 5 lakh jobs
Speaking at a seminar organized by the Indian Foundation for Quality Management (IFQM), the Tata Sons chairman said that India cannot achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation without a development policy. He said that between our (Tata Group’s) investments in semiconductors, our investments in precision manufacturing, assembly, electric vehicles, batteries and related industries, I think we will create five lakh manufacturing jobs in the next five years. Citing the group’s upcoming semiconductor plant in Assam and other new manufacturing units for electric vehicles and batteries, he said that we are setting up many plants.
Manufacturing is necessary for developed India
He appreciated the government’s support in these initiatives and stressed the need for employment generation in the manufacturing sector. Chandrasekaran said that if we cannot create employment in the manufacturing sector then we cannot achieve the goals of a developed India, because we all know that 10 lakh people are coming into the workforce every month. Chandrasekaran said that we need to create 10 lakh jobs. He stressed the importance of new age manufacturing like semiconductors which creates eight to ten indirect jobs for every one employment created.
